Father’s Day for the Whole Family

  • Once a year we get to celebrate the awesomeness that is Dad. He’s the rock, the guy that’ll always be there for us. So this Sunday, June 19th we’ve rounded up our favourite ways to say “thanks for all that you do.”

Five Ways to Spend Father’s Day

    1. Tee off at the Stanley Park Pitch n’ Putt. Close to the beach, pool, tennis courts and Fish House Restaurants, it’s easy to make an afternoon of the 18 holes. Open 8am – 8pm, you have the double bonus of being in the middle of one of the city’s most beautiful parks with views of English Bay and the bordering rhododendron garden.
    1. Celebrate at the Point Grey Fiesta, starting Saturday June 18th with a pancake breakfast and parade on West 10th. The carnival complete with rides and midway games, music by local performers, and shows last all weekend long.
    2. 2. BC’s Family Fishing’s 17th annual weekend will be over Father’s Day this year, June 17th – 19th. A free-to-attend event, it offers how-tos and tons of educational opportunities in a festive setting. The whole weekend is license-free for Canadians, but be sure to check the FFW website for details. Check here for the list of participating lakes.
    3. See the dinosaurs: Saturdays in June is Cineplex Family Favourites at 11am. June 18th, watch Jurassic World on the big screen for only $2.99 and a portion of the proceeds will go towards the Free The Children. Here’s a list of participating theatres.
    4. An oldie but goodie (just like Dad) is dining at the Boathouse Restaurant at Kits Beach or in English Bay. With several locations around the Lower Mainland, this fresh seafood chain always promises yummy eats and good service, while these two locales in particular offer up the best views.
